NI PXIe-810690系列SNP到RS-232微型转换器与IBM PC-AT或兼容计算机一起使用时，延长电缆的一端插入微型转换器的9针串行端口连接器，另一端插入计算机的9针串口。需要转换器插头（随套件提供）将Miniconverter上的9针串行端口连接器转换为GE Fanuc Workmaster II计算机或IBM PC-XT或PS/2个人计算机上的25针串行端口接口。GE Fanuc Workmaster计算机需要一个额外的适配器NI PXIe-8106（未随套件提供–请联系您当地的GE FanucPLC经销商）用于微型转换器。引脚分配微型转换器的引脚如以下两个表所示。NI PXIe-8106第一个表显示RS-232端口的引脚，第二个表显示RS-422端口。引脚分配，RS-232端口表D-1用于RS-232端口。信号流的方向与微型转换器有关。
