NOTE: The VMIVME-7740 requires forced air cooling. It is advisable to install blank panels over any exposed VMEbus slots. This will allow for better air flow over the VMIVME-7740 board. For 20-slot VME configurations, three 100 CFM fans are recommended. 3. Insert the VMIVME-7740 and its attached expansion modules into the chosen VMEbus chassis slot (expansion modules should fill the slots immediately adjacent to the VMIVME-7740). While ensuring that the boards are properly aligned and oriented in the supporting board guides, slide the boards smoothly forward against the mating connector until firmly seated. 4. Connect all needed peripherals to the front panel. Each connector is clearly labeled on the front panel, and detailed pinouts are in Appendix A. Minimally, a keyboard and a monitor are required if the user has not previously configured the system. 5. Apply power to the system. Several messages are displayed on the screen, including names, versions, and copyright dates for the various BIOS modules on the VMIVME-7740
