    Layout Considerations

    High frequency resonance problem For maximum efficiency, the rise and fall time of LT1370 switch should be as short as possible. In order to prevent radiation and high-frequency resonance problems, the correct layout of components connected to the switch node is essential. The B field (magnetic) radiation is minimized by keeping the output diodes, switch pins, and output bypass capacitor leads as short as possible. Figure 3 shows the recommended locations for these components. E field radiation is kept low by minimizing the length and area of all traces connected to the switch pins. The grounding plane shall always be used below the switch circuit to prevent coupling between planes. High speed switch current path is shown in Figure 4. The minimum lead length in this path is critical to ensure clean switches and low EMI. The path including switch, output diode and output capacitor is the only path containing nanosecond rise and fall time. Keep this path as short as possible.
