Designed as a modular "building block system". More than 80% of the systems can be made of system components that have passed type test. This ensures higher quality and shorter delivery times. The power supply part consists of one or more thyristor power converters, AC or DC side field circuit breakers, field flash circuits and solid state de excitation systems with crowbars. Figure 2: The standard configuration of the voltage regulator part and the power converter unit can be combined at will, such as S5T, D5E, A5S, Q5T, due to the internal ARCnet ® Fieldbus, no wiring required. The data exchange within the system, such as the data exchange between the voltage regulator, the power supply unit and the interface equipment, is carried out through the serial ARCnet bus. Additional interfaces or control panels can be located and operated via optical links, with a distance of up to 1000 meters. The powerful and reliable power converter UNITROL 5000 uses DCS 500 series or UNL 13300 compact power converter or Verityr power converter. The type and number of parallel power converters depend on the required excitation current, maximum voltage and maximum duty cycle required by the customer. The following options are available: • Natural cooling or forced cooling • Redundant fans • One power converter can be maintained during system operation (with 5-pole isolator). Uniform distribution of current among multiple power converters For parallel power converters, ABB's new development provides for the first time the regulated distribution of total current between active cells.
