Modbus TCP Client Configuration To perform the configuration of MicroFlex e190 or MotiFlex e180 drives, you must connect a PC to the drive through Mint Workbench (Build 5814 or later). Connect your PC through the Ethernet socket on the front of the drive, which is reserved for standard Ethernet. It may be necessary to include a standard Ethernet switch to connect all Ethernet devices at the same time. Once the Workbench is running and the Mint HTTP server has located the drive as part of the scanning process, connect to the required drive (if you are using an Ethernet connection and the Workbench cannot find your drive, check whether the Discovery checkbox is selected for the specific network adapter used on your PC through the HTTP server tray application – again, Refer to the appropriate drive installation manual for more details). Once online, select configuration options from the workbench's toolbox. When the configuration screen has finished loading, select Start New Configuration from the list of options. Select the Network screen to view the IP configuration of the drive. By default, the address of the MicroFlex e190 and MotiFlex e180 drives is set to 192.168.0.1. You can change this address if necessary, but if you want to avoid using other routers, the drive must remain on the same subnet as the I/O module. The Modbus TCP I/O module defaults to an address in the 192.168.0. x range (where x is set by the two rotary switches in front of the module). If necessary, it can also be changed (using the built-in IPConfig tool in Automation Builder).

    Switch settings

    If the last octet of the module IP address is set to 0 through IPConfig, the rotary switch will set the last bit of the address, otherwise the address set by IPConfig will be used. For our example, we set the reservation module to 192.168.0. {Switch}, so we can configure the driver to 192.188.0.1. Now select the Modbus TCP Client screen and click the "+" button to add the new server to the configuration. The first server is identified as "Server ID 0", and a dialog box appears allowing the user to enter the IP address of this device. The server ID (0) must be associated with the logical rack number in the system - in our case, logical I/O rack 0 is a rack booted by the CI521 module, so the IP address of server ID 0 is 192.168.0.14 (see the example I/O configuration diagram earlier in this document - 192.168.014 is the address, because we set the rotary switch on this module to 0E hexadecimal). Modbus TCP uses port number 502, so you do not need to change this setting. Similarly, all ABB devices use Big Endian byte and word order, so you can check these two check boxes.
