    2 User defined scaling Profibus measurement range

    The load division can be adjusted according to user requirements. Profibus measurement range Profibus test range (estimated web tension during normal operation) is a parameter entered by the user. After the user changes the measurement range value, changing the nominal load of the load cell will not affect the Profibus scaling. The value of the least significant bit is defined as the load partition. Load distribution Load distribution is the resolution that will be used on Profibus. The load distribution value is calculated by PFEA113 and depends on the set measurement range. The measurement range is divided into a limited number of divisions in the range 2001-5000. Load partition value=a partition containing only one significant number (1, 2 or 5). Profibus can handle up to - 32768 to+32767 (216) partitions. Example 1: a Profibus measurement range (set by the user)=15 500 N (estimated web tension during normal operation) b Load distribution calculated by PFEA113=5 N (value of least significant bit on Profibus) c Profibus test range/load distribution=15500/5=3100 (the measurement range is divided into 3100 parts) Example 2: If the load distribution 5N in Example 1 is not enough, you can adjust the load distribution. This can be achieved by setting (decreasing) the MeasuringRange in the Miscellaneous menu to a value that provides sufficient load division (resolution). a. Measuring range=9000 N (new, lower setting of measuring range) b The new load distribution calculated by PFEA113=2N (the new value of the least significant bit of Profibus). By setting 9000N in PFEA114, the Profibus measurement range 0 – 15500N (divided into 7750 parts) can still be used. Now the load distribution (resolution) is 2N. Generally, it is not necessary to set the measuring range below 1/3 of the estimated web tension during normal operation. For a given load distribution, the maximum value that can be transmitted through Profibus is: – maximum value=load distribution x 32767 Note: After the user changes the value of the measurement range, the only way to return to the default proportion is to use the Set Factory Default Value function in the Miscellaneous menu.
