Functional characteristics of microprocessor:
Based on Pentium M processor family. The enhanced Pentium M processor has 1 MB of L2 cache, while the Celeron M has 512 KB of L2 cache. The Pentium/Celeron M processor family provides thermal characteristics that are ideal for embedded systems operating at various temperatures. DRAM memory: Accepts a 200 pin SODIMM DDR module for 256 MB, 512 MB, and 1 GB memory configurations. BIOS: System BIOS and video BIOS are provided in programmable memory. Video graphics controller: support high-resolution graphics and multimedia quality video through internal graphics controller. The full-featured integrated 2D/3D graphics accelerator provides pixel processing and rendering, supporting a display resolution of 1600 x 1200. Video output is provided through the CompactPCI connector. Support analog and LVDS digital video. Note: LVDS standard video BIOS support is only available for 800 x 600 panels. If VMIACC-0584 backplane is not used, video should be disabled through CMOS settings. CompactFlash: Includes the CompactFlash slot on the component. CompactFlash can be configured as a boot device through the BIOS boot device settings. For available sizes, see CompactFlash ordering options. IDE interface: provides IDE interface for hard disk drive support. The IDE interface supports multiple types of data transfer: Programmed I/O (PIO), Model 8237 DMA, Ultra ATA/33, Ultra ATA/66, and Ultra ATA/100. Note: Ultra DMA IDE mode requires a high-performance 80 core cable. Ethernet controller: Intel 82546EB Ethernet controller is used to provide dual connection for 10/100/1000BaseTX LAN. Two standard RJ45 connectors are provided on the front panel with two network status indicators. The two LAN ports supporting PICMG 2.16. Rev 1.0 can also be obtained through the CompactPCI backplane.
Remote Ethernet boot
Serial ATA provides a serial ATA interface through the CompactPCI backplane connector. Remote Ethernet boot: Use the extended ROM BIOS to boot the processor from the network server. The facility supports PXE and various network boot protocols, including BOOTP and DHCP (TCP/IP). USB ports: Two high-speed universal serial bus (USB 2.0) ports are provided. The port is on the CompactPCI backplane connector. Serial ports: Two 16550 compatible serial ports are provided. Each serial port has a separate 16 byte FIFO that supports baud rates up to 115 kilobaud. One serial port connection is provided by the RJ45 connector on the front panel. Both serial ports are available through the CompactPCI connector. PMC expansion site: provide two separate IEEE 1386.1 PCI mezzanine card (PMC) expansion sites. This extended feature allows you to add peripherals provided for PMC applications. One PMC site is 3.3V 64 bit, 66 MHz, while the other site is 5.0V 32 bit, 33 MHz. Keyboard and mouse ports: PS/2 keyboard and mouse are supported through CompactPCI connector using the optional VMIACC-0584 backplane adapter. Hardware reset: The hardware reset switch can be accessed from the front panel. Watchdog timer: provide software programmable watchdog timer. The watchdog timer is enabled under software control. Once the timer is enabled, the software must access the timer within the specified time period, otherwise the watchdog timer output will interrupt or reset the device. The reset or interrupt operation is programmable.
