寄存器集要超越电路板的简单目标读写操作

Register set should go beyond simple target read and write operation of circuit board
The user must understand and manipulate the bits in the five register sets. These five register sets are called: • PCI configuration registers • Local configuration registers • Runtime registers • DMA control registers • Reflective memory (RFM) control and status registers PCI configuration registers – these registers are predefined by the PCI local bus specification and are standard for all PCI devices. This register set contains vendor ID, device ID, subsystem vendor ID, subsystem ID, and base address registers. The PCI configuration register is first initialized by the serial EEPROM, and then modified by the PCI bus system BIOS as needed. The user rarely changes the register set. Local configuration registers – This set of registers is located in the PLX PCI interface device. Like the previous set of registers, the local configuration register is initialized from the serial EEPROM to the normal operation configuration. Sometimes, users may want to modify the local configuration registers to better match VMIxxx-5565 with the host system at startup. Since then, local configuration register settings are rarely modified. The starting position of the local configuration register is defined in the PCI configuration register, base register 0, and/or base register 1.

Runtime register
This set of registers is actually a subset of the local configuration registers and can be accessed at a position offset from the value in the base address register 0 or 1. Unlike other registers, runtime registers change frequently during operation. A valid register in this register set is the PLX interrupt control and status register (INTCSR). DMA control register – Like the runtime register, this register set is actually a subset of the local configuration registers, accessed at a position offset from the value in the base register 0 or 1. The DMA control registry is used to operate two DMA engines. Reflective Memory (RFM) Control and Status Register – Unlike the first four register groups, the RFM control and status register is not located in the PLX PCI interface device, but in the add-on board circuit. RFM control and status registers realize the unique functions of VMIxxx-5565 reflective memory board. These functions include RFM operation status, detailed control of RFM source of PCI interrupt, and network interrupt access. The RFM control and status registers are accessed at a position that deviates from the value of the basic address register 2 (PLX also refers to this address space as "local address space 0")
