因为在锻压过程中滑块产生的作用力非常大，所以机械式压力机工作时，必须保证工作人员身体的任何一个部位都不可以接近压力机工作区。为避免危险动作可能造成的人身伤害，在机械压力机的周围，通常会装有各种安全设备，如：双手操作台、安全光幕、脚踏开关等，由这些安全设备发出的指令来控制压力机。
Absopules MOX12-P3509模块 欧标EN692和机标JB3350-93都要求对压力机的功能实现安全监控。该类监控传统上可以采用施耐德电气专用XPS安全模块来实现，通常一个安全模块能监控一个安全功能。压力机的安全监控必须使用多个模块，导致排线繁复，安装不便，故障排除困难。施耐德电气新推出的XPSMC系列安全控制器可以同时监控多种安全功能的，其一体化的解决方案大大简化了压力机制造商的安全应用。XPSMC系列安全控制器可同时监控多种安全功能，带有16或32个输入，8个独立的安全输出（6个固态安全输出+2×2个继电器输出）。

断轴监控等压力机的基本原理
在介绍机械式压力机安全解决方案之前，我们有必要了解其基本工作原理。
如下图所示，压力机通过与凸轮相连的硬杆，将飞轮的旋转运动变为直线运动。其中：
TDC：上死点，压力机的停止点。
BDC：下死点。
凸轮正转（顺时针）时，滑块就在上死点和下死点之间来回动作。停止命令给出后，要求滑块必须停止于上死点（最多超程量为上图中所示的S）。
XPSMC的安全监控功能
XPSMC安全控制器通过2个凸轮驱动的限位开关来检测曲轴的整个工作周期、保证压力机滑块停在一个非危险的位置。
